Women's Ministry

Goals

The vision for our Women’s Ministry is to be a pillar of support for the church in its mission to transform lives and culture by sharing the love of Jesus Christ with our families, the community, and the world for God’s glory. Our goals through May 2010 are:

1) Support the church’s overall goals by helping to foster a culture of reaching, bringing, and welcoming. Also help build cohesion in planning, communication, and overarching goals for church ministries.

2) Nurture the prayer lives of women in our church and help encourage the prayer life of the entire church family.

3) Encourage spiritual growth of the women in our church with emphasis on Scripture and application of Scriptural principles to daily life.

4) Equip women to engage in the existing ministries of our church.

5) Minister to and meet the needs of women in our church (and others as needed).

Women's Book Club

Introducing a new idea from the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team! The Women’s Book Club will meet once a month in small groups to discuss a variety of Session-approved books including classic literary novels, contemporary literature, and Christian fiction. We’ll aim to read through one book every two months so it won’t be too taxing! It’s a great opportunity to expand your literary exposure, improve your vocabulary, and get to know other women. Please note that this is not intended to be a bible study, though we will undoubtedly touch on issues of faith and Christian life in our discussions.

The Book Club will continue to meet monthly on the third Tuesday of each month in Marietta at the home of Karen Kee. In November, we will read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and in December we will read A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. Watch the bulletins for additional fall reading selections.

If you would like to attend, please put your name on the signup sheet or send an email to to give us a rough idea of how many people to expect as light refreshments will be provided.
