Adult Sunday School Classes Fall 2010

Adult Christian Education (ACE) oversees several aspects of ministry at Westminster, including Adult Sunday School, Women’s Bible Studies, Men’s Small Groups, and the Smith Bible Study.

Adult Bible Class

Topic: The Exodus

Teacher: Jim Parker

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 8

Description: In this lecture and discussion format class, we continue our study in the Exodus. The emphasis will be on the typology of the exodus events as a model of conversion to Christ and the progress in spiritual growth from immaturity to maturity.

Women's Class

Topic: Honesty and Wisdom from the book of Job

Teacher: Jan Powell

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 7

Description: This class, specifically for women, will explore the Old Testament book of Job.

Men's Class

Topic: Galatians

Teacher: Chet Lilly

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 7

Description: Geared specifically for men, this class will do a discussion-oriented study through the New Testament book of Galatians using John Stott's The Message of Galatians.

Choir Class

Topic: Singing and Making Music: Issues in Church

Music Today by Paul Jones

Teacher: Nick Hilscher

Meeting Place: Choir Room
Description: This class will consist of a 30 minute lesson on the biblical role of music in worship followed by a 30 minute choir rehearsal.

Young Couples Class

Topic: Encounters with Jesus

Teacher: Tim Waddell

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 9

Description: This class for young couples enjoys a discussion-oriented lesson focused on practical life
application of biblical truth. This semester's study will explore the question: what do we learn about our relationship with Jesus, each and non-believers by watching his interactions with others.

City on a Hill Sunday Morning Bible Study

Topic:The book of Romans

Teacher: Tim Kay

Meeting Place: Panera Bread at Loehmann's Plaza

Description: This class is open to young adults from college age on up. We meet for coffee and a light breakfast and a discussion-oriented lesson. This fall we are studying the New Testament book of Romans.

International Class

Hosts: Joel & Angie Mercer; Rev. Al & Elaine LaCour

Meeting Place: Library

Description: This class is designed for second-language students as well as those with little Bible background. The class previews the order of worship and the Scripture Lesson for the morning sermon.

Inquirer’s Class

Teacher: Rev. Chuck Frost

This class is for those interested in learning more about the church or those who would like to join Westminster. This class is offered several times a year; dates are announced in the church bulletin.
